Oakhurst Farm has been in operation since 1901.  Begun as the Morgan Dairy Farm, it is now owned and operated by Lynda Morgan Marlowe and her family.  It is recognized for grass fed Angus beef and Coastal Bermuda hay production.  Located in an extensive greenbelt west of Pine Mountain ridge in West Point, Georgia, this rural 150 acres offers dynamic environmental and cultural education opportunities.

Students become farmers for the day as they investigate seasonal crops in the field and discover barn life up close and personal.   Farm studies vary weekly as students work within the current farm operation.  Students will walk the fields and pastures, work in the barn, pick, plant, or dig crops, feed animals, and record data.

Nature
investigations are also seasonal as students discover native wildlife in the lakes, woods, and gardens.  Students collect important data using the outdoors as a laboratory.  Students may tag monarchs, monitor bluebirds, count tree frogs, and test water.  Program topics for grades preK-7 include: On the Farm, Butterfly Basics, Life Cycles, Pond Studies, Georgia Habitats, Water, Regions of Georgia, and Vertebrates.
